Grading Structures

A pay structure is a collection of pay grades, levels or bands, linking related jobs within an organization, which provides a framework for the implementation of reward strategies and policies within an organization.
Pay structures may be designed to achieve several objectives:
  • To align reward strategy with the business strategy of the organization, such as encouraging high performance levels
  • To bring order and clarity to an organization and its employees in managing pay increases and career progression
  • To help ensure fairness
While some smaller organizations manage without any form of pay structure at all, larger or growing organizations, typically once they have reached around 150-200 employees, usually find such arrangements essential as a framework for reward management. Our Consultants will ensure that your grading structure works for your organization, enabling employees to be fairly paid comparatively against other employees and that they can see how they can progress in the future. Having your grading structure carried out independently makes the implementation process go more smoothly.
