MUSCAT: Competence HR, a leading name in training, recruitment and development, concluded its six-month long leadership programme, recently. A graduation ceremony was held under the patronage of Khalid bin Omar Al Marhoun, Minister of Civil Service, to facilitate 40 participants of the programme, says a press release.

Addressing candidates during the closing ceremony, the minister said: “We are keen to corroborate on any efforts that drive up competency in the public sector through partnership with the private sector.

“The candidates of this programme represent a continuing process for effective communication in building key capabilities.”

Amer Al Fadhil, managing director of Competence HR, said: “Today marks the culmination of our efforts to enhance efficiencies in the private and public sectors by uniting them under shared goals. This event has effectively demonstrated real cooperation between both government bodies and private institutions in helping build effective strategies for growth, development and training.”

He added that the plan was to make the workshop an annual event to ensure that it percolates all levels of management in the private and public sectors.

The six-month training programme was held in cooperation with the Public Management Institute and under the supervision of the Ministry of Civil Services targeting important aspects of private and public sector management. A total of 40 directorate generals from various ministries and government organisations participated.

Key sponsors for the event were Omran, Bank Muscat, Omantel, Oman Gas Company and Ministry of Oil & Gas.

Three main concepts underpinned the event. They were strategic planning, strategic implementation and personal leadership. The event’s delivery featured a combination of a state and the region forum; ‘book review’ and ‘meet a leader’ sessions; discussions and interaction on public and private partnership, and a conference on government excellence. Competence HR organised all programmes in coordination with the International Advisory Group. Participants got a real benefit from open forums with international speakers and local leaders.
